How MatanaMap handles information.

The short version

Browsing MatanaMap does not collect personal information about you. We use a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics service that counts visits in aggregate (details below), but no advertising trackers and no cookies. If you contact us, submit a shop listing, or use the corporate gifting service, we use what you send only to handle your request.

What we collect when you browse

MatanaMap has no accounts, no sign-in, and no advertising or social-media trackers. The site sets no cookies. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless service that counts page visits in aggregate and does not identify or track individual visitors. Your light/dark theme choice is stored only in your own browser and never leaves your device.

Like any website, loading a page makes your browser request files from a few services:

Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) serves the site itself.
Google Fonts serves the typefaces.
Some shop photos load directly from the shops' own websites, so those sites can see that an image was requested.

These services have their own privacy policies. We do not send them any information about you beyond what any browser sends when it requests a file.

If you contact us or submit a listing

If you email us, or use a listing form when one is available, we receive the details you send. For a shop listing this can include the store name, city, phone number, website, gift types, an optional photo, and a contact email.

We use these details to review the request and to create or update a directory listing.
A published listing shows business details only: the shop's name, city, address, phone number, website and similar public business information.
Your contact email address is used to communicate with you about the listing and is not published on the site.
We do not sell or rent any information you send us.

If you use the corporate gifting service

For corporate gifts, you email us your recipient list and budget. Those lists can include recipients' names and delivery addresses. We use those details to order the gifts from local shops and arrange delivery, and the shop fulfilling each order receives the details it needs to deliver.
